Template for Diary Entries: June 8, 2017

People who are interested in contributing diary entries (see the previous blogpost) have requested a template of some sort to help them get started in an organized way.  Here's something I put together that should hopefully help.  A few notes and example entries are also included.  Thank you all for your interest!  Anything you can send my way at tyroflux@gmail.com will be greatly appreciated.

Open Call for Diary Entries: June 1, 2017

We're looking for a bit of help writing varied diary entries for the mom.  If you think you might be interested in writing either a few or a lot, read on!

As I'm sure you know, Momcest Trainer involves the son earning "Good Boy Points" from his mom, which he then trades in for increasingly sexual favors under the veneer of semi-plausible scenarios.  If you played the public tech demo we released ages ago, you might remember that the mom's diary entry gets displayed to the player each night.  On days where a sex scene or a flavor event occurs, the diary entry will reveal her perspective on it, including her private thoughts.  On days where she decides to masturbate, the diary entry will describe that in detail.  On days where nothing eventful happens, a random diary entry will be selected from a large separate list.  It would be nice if a player could play through the game and never see the same random diary entry twice, so I humbly ask your help in creating as many as humanly possible.

Ideally, random diary entries should provide at least one of the following: characterization for the mom, characterization for the relationship between the mom and the son, and/or titillation for the player.  They should be short, like on the order of 2-3 sentences unless more are required.  Here's a pastebin of the diary entries already implemented into the game (please excuse the code).  As you might be able to tell, they're classified into "Tame", "Risque", and "Lewd" depending on how far the player has progressed in the game (in other words, depending on how corrupted the mom is).  Some diary entries have three versions (one for each phase of the game) that are tweaked to reflect her sluttiness.

There are other diary entries that are set so they only appear on certain days of the year (e.g. holidays), during certain seasons, when she's feeling particularly horny (which can occur at all stages of the game, though it's more common later on in the game), on weekdays only, etc.  Others require a Personality Card to have been used (Personality Cards magically alter the mom's behavior, beliefs, or appearance).  Here's a list of some of the relevant Personality Card changes we were thinking of including.  So far, Halloween is the only holiday whose diary entries have been written.  "Tame", "Risque", and "Lewd" each have a few possible Halloween-related diary entries to choose from.

To characterize the mom, she starts out innocent and uptight so her "fall", so to speak, is more pronounced.  She's also gullible and well-wishing enough to believe the pretexts the son uses to instigate the sex scenes.  She can get angry at the son, because I think players want her to have resistance for them to overcome, but at the end of the day, she's also loving.

The story and current diary entries have already established a few friends of the mom's, if you need to use any when creating new ones.  Lois and Cheryl are her best friends.  Lois is slutty and extroverted, and Cheryl is an ostensibly modest, submissive new mom who is lactating.  Maria is a Hispanic friend/acquaintance of the mom's.  The son is friends with Ellen Jones' son Randy, but the mom and Ellen Jones don't get along.

When the mom decides to masturbate, her lust meter will get lowered because she has released her pent-up sexual energy.  Since these diary entries will play on days where she does not masturbate and her lust meter will not get lowered, they should typically not involve her actually orgasming (but anything sexual up to that point is fine).

Also, I should mention that the already-implemented stuff I linked above calls on some code I created that randomly inserts synonyms, adjectives, and even sexual actions depending on how corrupted the mom is, which should hopefully add some variety.  I can edit that stuff in after the fact, though, so don't worry about it when writing--just send your list of diary entries for me to add to tyroflux@gmail.com!

If you've gotten this far, thank you so much for reading!  I think these diary entries will add a lot to the game, because they will decrease the feeling of grinding and increase immersion for the player.  Also, I'm still looking for talented writers to work with on scene dialogue, so please hit me up at tyroflux@gmail.com if you're interested!

Behind the Scenes: May 9, 2017

You guys don't deserve to be left in the dark, so here's what's been going on behind the scenes.  Since the last blogpost, the project has died, been reborn, and died again due to creative differences, management issues, and other commitments.  We were hoping to update everyone with another blogpost when we had a lot to show off, or even a demo ready, but the project fell apart before we reached that point.

I've started tinkering with Momcest Trainer again in the past week, but I'm primarily a programmer, not a writer or artist.  Many sex scenes and random events still need to be written.  Once I have some more cash, I will probably try to commission an artist or two to draw the required characters and sex scenes, as well as a near-infinite supply of clothing.  I expect to wait until the writing is almost complete before shifting focus to the art, though.

I know it hasn't been fun for you guys for the past several months, and I apologize.  Your interest and support means a lot to me, and I hope you know that I want to play Momcest Trainer as much as you do.

Progress Report: October 17, 2016

Hello again, and thank you for your patience!  The past month has seen a slew of notable Momcest Trainer developments.

Art

I'll jump right into the best part first: artists Excurcio and Azalenth have joined the project and have been hard at work concepting a new look for the mom!  I know many of you have become attached to the Akabur art we've been using, but as the project progresses, it is necessary that we move away from using other people's artwork.  I hope you'll agree that the new versions are even better!

We wanted to get your opinions on the base sprites before we start churning out clothing for them to wear.  As you can see below, we have two different characters drawn.  One will end up as the mom, and the other will be used as another character, such as the son's teacher.

We were thinking this design would make for a good mom:

As would this one, or possibly for the son's teacher:

Let us know what you think in the comment section below!

Programming

There is also programming-related news.  The mom will now more intelligently tint her clothing so that the colors are more likely to match, reducing the likelihood of fashion disasters.  The card collection system mentioned in the previous blogpost has been more fully fleshed out, and is set to be an integral part of the game's progression system.  With these cards, you will be able to permanently unlock clothing and personality changes for the mom, as well as the main series of sex scenes.

Lastly, we are still interested in working with more programmers, artists, and especially writers because there are still many scenes left to write.  If you think you have what it takes, please feel free to email me at tyroflux@gmail.com, preferably with some examples of your other work.

Progress Report: September 18, 2016

Hi everyone,

Rest assured that Momcest Trainer's development is progressing gradually but smoothly.  Our team is now comprised of one programmer and a few very talented writers who are busy ironing out the story and detailing scenes.

The implementation of the light gameplay elements I alluded to in the previous blogpost has long been complete, but I'd like them to remain a small surprise for now.  Our team has been spending time trying to nail down a slightly more active gameplay system, but this is not yet at a point where I can share details.  I have more or less implemented a card collection system in Unity in line with our original pitch, but the look and purpose of these cards are still subject to change.  I hope to be able to share more details in the future.

Story-wise, we are planning on replacing Pepe with a succubus whose sphere of influence will grow in size and power as the game progresses.  We are also considering a greater focus on light mind control elements.

Idle animation logic has been implemented for the mom's sprite, so you can look forward to her blinking, breathing, and slowly swaying.  Hopefully this will make her feel more alive.

We are still interested in recruiting more writers and artists.  If you are interested in helping out, please email me at tyroflux@gmail.com with some sample work, if possible.

From the Wreckage: August 12, 2016

Hello again!

As you may have guessed, Momcest Trainer's development has been essentially dead for the past few months.  I no longer had the time necessary to devote to it, and as anyone else who has tried to collaborate online knows, it can be difficult to maintain a team of unpaid volunteers.  I sincerely apologize for the lack of communication, but I want you all to know that your interest continues to mean a lot to me.

I've begun working on Momcest Trainer again over the past week or so, but there's still much to be done.  The UI has been updated in an effort to move away from reusing Akabur's assets (where possible).  I should finish implementing some light gameplay elements very soon, which will help define the game's structure/progression.  In general, I'd like to focus on breadth for the time being, which is a requirement before the mom's transformation can be properly conveyed--for example, the gradual changing of her wardrobe and vocabulary is basically implemented but requires a framework of the game to function.  I'm also hoping it will help give any future artists more direction.

Speaking of which, I am interested in collaborating with both artists and writers--a necessity if the game's development is to ramp back up.  Several talented artists have contacted me since the last blogpost, but I have not yet gone forward with any of them, primarily because it may still be too early to bring an artist on board.  However, if you would like to work together when the time comes, please send me an email at tyroflux@gmail.com with an example or two of some of your previous work.  I know it's not ideal, but I can't offer any pay.  If (and that's "if", not "when") a Patreon is established sometime down the line, as some people have requested, you would of course be entitled to a retroactive commission.

Those interested in writing should have more to do in the immediate future.  If  you have experience or want to try your hand at writing some smut, you can view some of our work-in-progress content and ideas here, most notably this list of anticipated sex scenes.  Since our tech demo was released, I've come to the conclusion that scenes do not have to be long to be erotic, and more choices do not necessarily correlate with quality.  Please feel free to email me at tyroflux@gmail.com with any questions or with whole scenes if you do not want to bother with requesting write access to the Git repository.

Finally, for anyone else who would still like to help out, it would speed things up considerably (once things get rolling) to have assistance formatting the script or assigning facial expressions for the mom.  This can be tedious work, but it is also important and will absolutely be appreciated.  If you think you might be willing to spare some time in the future, shoot me an email at tyroflux@gmail.com and I'll see if anyone can help as needed.

Thank you, everyone, for reading, and thank you for your ongoing support.  I promise to do my best to ensure Momcest Trainer lives up to your expectations.

We're Going Open Source!

We're happy to announce that Momcest Trainer is now open source, so it's easier than ever to contribute to the project as a programmer, artist, or writer.  You're also free to use its groundwork to create your own game in the Unity engine.

We're hosting the project at https://gitgud.io/tyroflux/MomcestTrainer, and we've tried to provide all the information you'll need to get started there.

Although the game is nowhere near finished, the code is now public, so we thought we might as well save you the trouble of compiling it yourselves. If you are hellbent on being disappointed with a tech demo that has only two kissing scenes, you can use these links to download the current build for Windows, Mac, or Linux.
